An ordinary day is filled with things that ask for our attention. A conversation, a task, a remembered worry: each becomes, for a time, the center of our world. We seldom pause to notice attention itself.

We can begin gently. There is a sound in the room, a sensation in the body, a thought passing through. And there is the simple fact that we are aware of them. We do not have to explain this experience before noticing it.

Such noticing does not require us to withdraw from life. It can happen in the middle of familiar responsibilities. A brief pause may remind us that experience is wider than the thought currently occupying us.

These words offer a reflection, not a definition of consciousness. The invitation is to look with patience at our own experience, and to allow the questions it raises to remain alive.
